To Place Symbols by Device ID

Select Insert Symbol by Device ID to display the Insert Symbol/Macro dialog (with the Symbol By Device ID tab active). This dialog lists existing device IDs in your drawings that belong to a device family. When you select a device ID in the upper area of the dialog, the symbols of the device family will be listed in the grid.

Use the filter options on the left side of the dialog to filter the list of device IDs displayed.

Select a symbol from the grid.

Click the Place Symbol button. The symbol will appear at the cursor position in the drawing.

Use the mouse to pick the location point for the symbol.

Note: Selecting the pin button in the upper right corner of the dialog will cause the dialog to reopen after you finish placing a symbol or macro.

Note: Many of the panes available in the interface can be moved, docked, minimized, or closed to suit your preference.
